Locality:

Brasil, Uruguay

Cold Hardiness: 

12 to 15, F.

Trunk type:

Clean, somewhat "knobby".

Leaf type:

Pinnate (feather shape), silver-blue, especially in full sun.

Suckering/Solitary:

Solitaire (single trunk).

Maintenance:

Easy

Speed of growth:

Medium

Height:

15' to 20' feet .

Soil requirements:

Good drainage, but is not picky.

Sun Requirements:

Full sun.  May die if gets shaded out, or at least looks poorly.

General Description:

A medium sized single trunk, cold-hardy pinnate palm that is quite popular in cold areas.  Very versatile and sturdy.

Other Notes:

Edible fruit, can make jelly with the fruit
